I have been trying to test AR 8 on Vista Pro RTM and consistently ran into the same problem. At first, the version I downloaded two weeks ago said Beta. I downloaded again and it no longer says Beta but still has the same problem.

The only way I got it to install was to set the installable to XP Compatibility Mode prior to installing but I found this option unacceptable because it sets the behavior of AR to launch outside the Browser just like the 7.0.8 patch does and I launch from an application and need it to launch in the Browser. I had no trouble installing AR 7.0.8 in Vista but we are going to 8 because of the security issue.

This morning I downloaded AR 8 again, hoping to get an improved version and I did. Now I get a new message that it cannot access the Windows Installer Service. It says this is usually because the win installer was not installed properly. This cannot be true of Vista since win installer is part of the O/S and does not use a redistributable install. I even went in and restarted the installer service but it did not help. I hope someone out there is reading this and fixes these issues. I think there is a big problem with someone releasing code that won't even install in the O/S is was targeted for.

I also checked the path and there is nothing in front of system32. I checked the version of msiexec and it is 4.0.6xxx, which is the latest Vista build.

I have administrative authority and have been installing applications to Vista with no issues. I have lost two weeks of testing because of this and it is very frustrating. AR 8 for XP SP2 installs and runs just fine and behaves correctly when I launch it in my application.
