Error 1714 - Please help me install reader 8 or 7

I think I partially uninstalled Reader 7.0. I tried Installing 8.0 and unistalled by accident.

Now trying to re-install Reader 8.0 and I get:

"Error 1714. Older Version of Adobe Reader 8 cannot be removed. Contact your Support Group."

I tried clicking on the Reader 7.0 which is installed but not working. When I click on the Reader 7.0 icon on my desktop, it trys to install 7.0 and stops during install because it says I have a current version on and exits out. Reader 7.0 is not working and when I try to uninstall it in Add and Remove programs. It says it can't and that the patch package could not be opened.

How can I completely uninstall 7.0 and also get 8.0 to load??????

Any ideas??
