Just installed Adobe Reader 8 on my Mac (OS X 10.4.8). I prefer to keep the Applications folder exclusive to Apple programs; I've got another folder for all non-Apple programs. All my other programs work fine from the other folder, except this one. It seems to continue to recreate Adobe Help Viewer 1.0 in the Applications folder. I've tried using an alias and a symlink to the one that I moved out of the Applications folder but to no avail. Those were ignored and another copy placed back in the Applications folder. I can't find any preference for file locations either. To me, this is BAD behavior. If it can't be placed inside the app bundle or in the same folder as Adobe Reader 8, then give me an option via dialog or preference as to where I want it. Also Adobe knowledgebase has nothing on Adobe Help Viewer 1.0. Any help on this? I have a case # if Adobe folk want to track.
