I am not able to get my current version of Firefox 2.0.0.1 to open pdf files or to download them. I get an error message telling me that the pdf couldn't be opened because the associated helper application does not exist. .
I also get a message from the Download window of FireFox telling me that download failed .I don't know what associated helper application is, that is mentioned or where to find it on my Mac. As far as I am able to remember this started when I upgraded to Adobe Reader 8.0. I had no problems with the previous version.

I am using a Mac G5 2.0 GHz desktop, with 1GB DDR SDRAM, 64 MB VRAM, an external 120 GB LaCie FireWire hard drive attached & a 20 inch Cinema Display .
With MAC OS 10.4.8 installed, Normal internet connection through Verizon FIOS, E-Mail using Thunderbird 1.5.0.9 & with Firefox 2.0.0.1 as my main browser.
