My son-in-law's computer displays the following error message after booting up. XP Home SP2 OS. He does not know how/when it started. When I checked his Reader preferences auto update was selected.

"Some updates may not be completely downloaded. Click the Continue button to continue downloading. If you would like to download updates later, please click the Quit button."

"[Quit] [Continue]" buttons choices

If he tries to do the update they get a failed to update message. The only option that works is for the user to cancel by the message.

This message also appears in this sequence, however, I don't know which message appears first:

"A file with the same name already exists in this location. Click Replace to overwrite the existing file(s), or click Change Destination to specify a different download destination."

He does have Adobe Download Manager 2.0 listed in Add/Remove Programs. Adobe Reader 7.0 functions OK after these messages are cleared. We're afraid to mess with this too much fearing loss of .pdf function which is critical to his work.

Any suggestions on how to safely proceed to at least get rid of the error messages?
Thanks...
