Thanks MarkATS. As you suggested, it was not a problem with Acrobat Reader at all, but rather with my graphics drivers. I have an NVIDIA RIVA TNT2, and after reformatting my hard drive I went with the NVIDIA video drivers supplied by Windows Update. Downloading drivers directly from NVIDIA solved the issue. As a side note, the latest NVIDIA drivers do not support the RIVA TNT2 card. They refer you to Version 70 of their drivers, however this version does not support the card either. The last version to support the TNT2 is 61.77. With this version, I can have hardware acceleration cranked up, and still not experience any problems with Reader.
