Just bought a new HP LaserJet 9040 and to my dismay found that the PS emulation isn't quite up to the mark. Printing Acrobat Distiller v1.4 PDFs from Reader v 7.x on Mac OS X 10.3 or 10.4 causes a Service Error on the HP. Have to restart the printer which is a huge pain. So far I have determined two ways to fix the problem: - Upgrade to Acrobat 8. - in Acro 7 change Advanced > PS Level 3 to 2. Each has their own knock-on problems. - Upgrading is costly and time consuming. Cheaper to replace the printer. Also Acrobat 8 doesn't use the default tray. - Acrobat 7 doesn't have Preference to change the PS LEvel to 2 permanently. I have upgrade the firmware on HP to latest. Any further suggestions please?
