Having wasted hours trying to solve this problem, being sent on a wild goose chase by the Adobe technical support messages and routed to a call centre in a foreign country I took the advice of Christopher Marshall and loaded FOXIT. Within minutes the problem was solved - it seems to be an excellent product and I can't understand why Adobe has been so dominant in the market for PDF applications. These Foxit guys are giving us what we want and have taken the time to create a proper interface with Windows XP - unlike Adobe - I know where my money is going in future. Thanks Christopher you have given me much more help than the combined resources of Adobe and now the problem is solved.
