Acrobat 6.0 fails to print PDFs

I'm using an older version of Acrobat, and am unable to create .pdfs of Frame and Word files. I am, however, able to create .pdfs of .txt files. I've downloaded and applied all updates, but am still unable to create .pdf files. Any idea of what might be going wrong?
