In my reinstallation of Reader 8 yesterday, I did not customize its toolbars, and Reader did not then crash when I used it to search text. Today, I customized Reader 8's toolbars, and when I used it to search it crashed immediately. The customization that causes the crashing appears to be the deactivation of the Find Toolbar. For my purpose, I have no use for the Find Toolbar -- I always use the Search Tool. So, for me, the Toolbar arrangement is more effective if the Find Toolbar is deactivated and instead the Search Tool on the File Toolbar is activated. But the combination of (a) deactivating the Find Toolbar and (b) then doing a text Search causes an immediate crash in my installation of Reader 8. By simply reactivating the Find Toolbar, the crashing problem is solved. Raphael
