After five hours of downloading 8.0 (dial-up only in this area) I attempted to installed the program. Things go okay until SETUP is computing space requirements; I get and "Error 1325.Linguistics is not a valid short file name". Here I get to click "OK". Big Deal. The installer terminates and suggests I try againg later. I do. I get the same results. After about a half hour of trying to get to customer/product support I get to a tech who wants 39 dollars to work the problem. Another BIG DEAL. Checking the forum I see I am not the only one having this type of problem. I guess Adobe is trying to emulate Microsoft by putting out a product that doesn't work as an end user expects. Something as basic as an installer should install! An a pet peeve is you get a dialog box informing you of a problem and instead of helping you on how to fix it you get and "OK" box to click. This leads to termination of the istaller. Product developers SHOULD NOT ALLOW this type of box in their programs. Programs are smart enough to give the user a choice. If NOT someone should MAKE them do it. If anyone knows of a fix for this I would really appreciate it. I guess I will live with Acrobat Reader 5.0 until.... Wayne
