Reader 8 doesn't scale when printing

Our application creates PDF files using ghostscript and sends them to a directory on the users workstation. From there the PDF files are printed automatically without opening Reader. The printouts are programmed for letter format, but of course in Europe we need to print on A4 paper size. When we had Reader version 6 installed this was not a problem as the pages were automatically scaled to fit on A4. With Reader 7 and 8 the pages are no longer scaled and as a result we miss some part of the PDF on the printout.
Does anyone know how to solve this?
