I can't offer a solution, but I can certainly confirm the problem!

I tried changing various Preferences to get Adobe Reader 8 to navigate responsively through large image files, but no luck -- particularly with scrolling. It's very unresponsive in starting scrolling, and once it starts scrolling it keeps on scrolling for quite a while after I want it to stop. In other words, when I use scrolling, it's <very> difficult to get Adobe Reader 8 to display what I want it to display.

This behavior is happening with Windows 2000, a fast Pentium 4, 2Gb of memory, a fast graphics adapter and a very fast monitor.

For my own purposes, I use Acrobat 7 Pro, which is <very> responsive in scrolling through the same large image files. But most of those who work with my products use Adobe Reader, and increasingly that will be Reader 8. My products are mostly large image files, so now have a problem!

I ask that Adobe please take note of this thread and find a solution. Otherwise, Adobe Reader 8 won't be suitable for many image files for which Adobe Reader 7 works very well.
