As stated above, as far as my computer was concerned, it was a problem with the upgrade to version 8.0 of Adobe Reader. I only had the problem when scrolling a .pdf file which is opened by Adobe Reader. Once I uninstalled Adobe Reader 8.0 and then installed version 7.08, I had no more problem.
