Rod, I downloaded Reader 8, and it worked with IE7, but then I could not access Acrobat 5; every time I opened a file with Acrobat 5, I was stuck with Reader 8. After uninstalling Reader 8, still with IE7, I opened Acrobat 5 and got the message that PDFs could not be opened with the browser, with the option of Acrobat dealing with the issue. I agreed to that, and then I was able to open PDFs from IE7. Have you tried opening Acrobat/Reader after installing IE7? Hopefully, it could work for you as well.
