Reader 8 works quite well on our Mac Pro. But it is painfully slow on our PowerBook, with 867MHz PPC, 640MB RAM, OS X 10.4.8. Paging and scrolling is sluggish, with blinking and stalling. It sometimes takes 2 or 3 seconds to draw a page containing only text, no graphics. Apple's Preview app is noticeably faster and smoother. Is this unusual, or is Reader 8 just not well-optimized for older Macs? I've tried modifying preferences (turning off smoothing, etc.), but nothing seems to make a difference.
