Using "read out loud" function

I'm running the Acrobat Reader version 6.0.5 on a PIII running Windows 98SE.

I can't get the "read out loud" function to work with any .pdf file. Is it that I must have at least 7.0.1 to use this function? It lists the function under "view" but when I click on it it gives me an error message "this function unavailable...something...."

What do I need to do to use the "read out loud" function" for my incoming .pdf files, or my ebooks, etc??

Thank you.
