Thank you I will not tamper with the Registry files but I am back to sqaure one! Deleted all those files that do not say "if you delete this file/folder some programs will not work) and have left them. Went to download from the authenticated programs as recommended by Hal but Adobe will not install - it just keeps saying that Adobe is already on my Competer. It is not even listed in Add or Remove Programes or the List of programes from start up. I am completely frustrated and it is now 1.30 am so I am going to bed.
(PS) tried joining Google help groups but just keep going round incircles! Can't input a question)
