I did the same thing. I uninstalled Reader v7.0.8 & reinstalled v6 hoping that would help (could the problem be in IE? I am running v6). Now when I try to open a doc on IE I get an error message that says Reader can not be found. Very frustrating! However, I found a work-around for the time being (until Adobe gets this bug worked out -- I did report it, so who knows...?). Open Reader (any version I understand will work) & reduce it to your tray while surfing. This way if you want to open a pdf from IE, it will already be available. I tried it today & it works. (It's just a pain to have to read pdf's this way, but apparently a lot of people are having to do it.)
