I am an Adobe Acrobat (standard)6.0 user. Some newer PDF files I was sent (very graphic rich) seemed to completely lock up. 6.0 isn't a speed demon anyway for everyday viewing of files. I downloaded and installed the 7.0 Reader, thinking I could default to that for doc reading, and I could use Open With to get Acrobat 6.0 (full) if I needed to edit, delete pages, and save different file types, etc., which i do but infrequently. The install of Reader 7.0.8 actually asks what you want to default to, and assures you that you can still use open with to use 6.0 NOT TRUE IN MY CASE! The new reader must really grab the registry hard, since even by browsing the C drive directly to the 6.0 executable program, it STILL boots the "reader only" 7.0 I was only able to correct this (no documentation found on the Adobe site) by removing 7.0.8, and then reinstalling it making Acrobat 6.0 the default reader. The new 7.0.8 does indeed come up with Open With when you right click on a file to run. That's just a pain and makes the new reader no use for web browsing, etc. It would have been nice if it would work as advertised, since the reader only version really is a ton faster when it comes to web browsing, and general purpose viewing of PDF files. (Maybe the next patch) If anyone thinks I may have brought this on myself unneccesarily, please let me know. The reader certainly installs quickly enough...
