I have a PDF with named destinations defined. I have an HTML application that when a particular button is clicked, it opens a new IE window with the URL 'http://server:port/app/my.pdf#nameddest=something. When I click on the button, it sometimes goes to the appropriate location. Other times, it either goes to the top of the document, the bottom of the document or the last location the PDF was opened to.

I have scoured the internet for help. I have found the Adobe articles that tell me how to do what I need to do. My syntax and usage is correct. I have found newsgroup posts that says this behavior is unreliable - but nothing from Adobe. The closest article from Adobe is support knowledgebase article #326322 which identifies a problem with the "page" parameter. This article suggests using named destinations (which are not working for me), upgrading to Adobe 8 or using Mozilla (which is also not working for me).

So my questions are...

Is there a solution? I'm desperate at this point.

How/when can I download Adobe Reader 8 to even see if this helps?
