PDF left in Temporary Internet Files

After viewing a streamed pdf file embedded in a Internet Explorer control hosted by a winform, the pdf file is left in the Temp Internet Files directory.

I create the html that contains the pdf, I have a http 1.1 server, using IE 6 SP2, and the http Cach-Control header set at no-cache, no-store & Expires -1.

Regardless of the combination of headers the pdf is always left in the subdirectories contained in the Temp Internet Files / content.ie5 subdirectories. The only way to view these files is to navigate to \\computerName\C$\Documents and Settings\userId\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5

These pdf files contain sensitive information and can not be left laying around.

I monitored the file usage of the pdf in question, it appears after navigating away from the page with the embedded pdf, that IE tries to clean it up, but fails because of a sharing violation. I'm asumming with the acrobate reader plugin.

Has anyone else seen this behavior?

Any suggestions on getting acrobat reader to release the pdf so IE can clean it up?
