there are a couple of PDFs I have which fail to properly display all text.. The text has gaps where words are omitted. The documents are scans of cheaply printed material, and I suspect that the missing text may have been described as a different font or font-size and is perhaps improperly embedded, or cannot be substituted on my system. The missing text is also missing when the document is printed, but it can be selected with the text select tool, and pasted into another program, such as notepad.

THe documents also DO display properly on another system, with windows XP and reader 7, but I cannot get them to work on my 98/reader6 system.

So, I would like to know what problem is at work here and how I may solve or work around it. Optimally I would like to fix the PDF files so they will display and print properly. I have already created new files from the copy/paste of the text into notepad, but at the cost of all the PDF formatting, graphics, tables, etc.

Please copy replies or suggestions to my email, arlo_horner@hotmail.com, as i have little enough time to check back here, with a 3 year old son being treated for cancer.
