Operating system Windows XP SP2 - opens some pdf files w/o issue, others it opens as a blank page. The files that open as a blank page open fine in Acrobat 6.0.5. Everytime Reader opens the file it checks for updates and then states that "No updates are available at this time." and the file is completely blank. I did 'finally' determine that it needed a language font kit, which I had to go and manually download and install. IE is set to automatically detect settings and can not be changed due to administrative policy. Is there a port or an tcp/ip that we can open that would allow adobe reader to find the updates it needs? Also why does it act like it's looking for updates and giving us the message that there are none? It took a lot of searching to figure out what was happening.
