I work for a company who receives file-images from customers, so I don't have control over how these file images are prepared. Low-res PDFs of these customer images are posted for reference purposes on our in-house Intranet site. Currently these PDFs are viewed using Adobe Reader 7.0.

When these PDFs are viewed, image-areas with a dot-pattern (not full-coverage color, like photos in a newspaper) do not display completely unless the "Overprint Preview" box is checked (in "Edit - Preferences"). If this box is unchecked, any areas with dot-patterns are displayed as white. So the OP check box seems to solve the problem with these types of image-files.

However, when the OP box is checked, other files are displayed with some text missing (text which exists in the file and is present on a hard-copy printout from Reader). So, checking OP causes some files to display correctly and others incorrectly; leaving the box unchecked reverses the two, still displaying some files incorrectly. There does not appear to be a setting that allows both types of files to display correctly.

HOWEVER, my own PC is running Adobe Reader 5.0. Both types of files are apparently displayed perfectly if Reader 5.0 is used.

What's up? How can I correct this in 7.0?
