Hi all at Adobe!

A good issue worth looking regarding the direction of the Adobe PDF format could be to add mapping-specific features.

This could allow for GPS integration of PDF maps and the ability to provide a dynamic scaling indicator for maps. Other features could include identifying different map projections and working around them; as well as allowing for "pushpins" on the map or in a separate file.

This issue needs to be highlighted because of smartphone and PDA devices being thought of as a replacement to maps and guidebooks; as well as GPS approaching the point of being affordable for most, whether as an integral device or as a Bluetooth or plug-in add-on module for existing smartphones, laptops and PDAs.

With regards,

Simon Mackay
