Dear Graffiti and Claudio, thanks very much for your helpful suggestions. I have been digging around too. I found this web page: <http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/319488.html> It says " Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.x is freely distributable on CD-ROM. Use the steps below if you want to distribute a version of Acrobat Reader 5.x that can be installed from a CD-ROM. (Adobe doesn't support distributing a version of Acrobat Reader that runs from a CD, even though you can run Acrobat Reader 5.x for Windows from a CD. You can't run Acrobat Reader 5.x for Mac OS from a CD.) Note: If you intend to distribute the CD to Mac OS users, you must create it in Mac OS. If you create the CD in Mac OS, you can add both Mac OS and Windows files to it--both Mac OS and Windows will recognize the files. If you create the CD in Windows, however, Mac OS won't recognize the Mac OS files. Also, Mac OS can't recognize Windows or UNIX files that are on a network server. Instead, you must copy the files onto a Windows-compatible disk (for example, a Windows-formatted disk or ZIP disk), and then access the disk in Mac OS. You can then copy the files onto a Mac OS disk. end quote. What I think this means is that I am snookered; even if I did manage to download the right file for Mac Os 9.2 I guess I need to find another way around this like getting to bring his computer over to use my broadband connection for the day. I am not technically up with all these twists and turns.
