The xml file is never modified (You can however comment out certain lines to prevent Reader from ever self-healing, but I don't recommend this). Every time Reader starts up, it checks the RdrENUSelfHeal.xml file. If there is a missing component, it gets reinstalled. Not only does the self-heal file live in the application package, but it gets cached to /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Acrobat. Looking at the SelfHeal folder is looks like the following items are put in /Library... CFMSupport ColorProfiles Unicode type supprt Internet plug-in
