Adobe 7.0 trys to reinstall when opening any file

I recently installed a home net work and have Adobe 7.0 standard. Every time I open any file Adobe installer opens and I have to cancel it 4-5 times before the file I was opening will open. Any ideas or solutions?
Windows XP
Dell Inspiron 640m
1GB Ram
