Several errors when installing Adobe Reader 7.0.8

When trying to install I receive the message "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folders Options control panel."

Then "Last error: 1155"

Then "Unable to launch AOM file. CreateProcess return code: 10872388."

What the??? I had an older version, but still received these messages. Then I removed the previous version & receiving the same error messages. Now I don't have AR at all & can not install v7.0.8. :-(
