Opening Networked copies of word files fails

I have a machine in a remote location that opens files from the home drive in another location,

When the user attempts to open a word file the request times out.

If I copy the file to the machine locally and then open it, the open is sucessful.

If I remove adobe from the machine and attempt to open the file from the network location the action is sucessful. Put the reader back on the machine and it will no longer open the remote files.

So! If AdobeReader v7 is on the machine it will not open remote files. It times out.
