I am noticing that Ricoh has corrected the PDF bloat issue on their newer devices. Their new Ricoh/Lanier (Lanier model LP226cn/231cn) stand alone color printer prints PDF's very quickly (spool time, size) in fact when you compare their PCL6 driver with the Post Script 3 they are about dead even. What model are you using? Do you a large amount of same model printers deployed? Are these leased and how far into the lease are you? In our contract we put in verbiage that allows us out of the contract or they will replace units if the devices do not meet our satisfaction but we leased hundreds of devices. It is worth a look.
