This can't be done with a registry change. the PDF plugin is a feature component that needs to be installed/uninstalled. You can remove browser intergration by doing:
msiexec /i <product id> REMOVE=ReaderBrowserIntegration /qn
The product id for Reader 7.0.8 is {AC76BA86-7AD7-1033-A70800000002}
include the braces but exclude the <>
