Copying text from Adobe Reader 9.1.0 leaves out large chunks of text

When I highlight a section of text (several paragraphs) to copy and paste, large chunks of the text are left out and no matter how hard I try, I can't highlight those sections of text. I have to read and manually fill in that data into the new document. I am using Adobe Reader 9.0 on a Windows XP platform.
