uninstall problems with Reader 7.0.8

I could not open .pdf files and tried to uninstall 7.0.8 but kept getting an error message that the resource file could not be found. I went on Adobe website and typed in the error message and it told me to install "Windows Installer Clean Up" and to uninstall 7.0.8 and reinstall. I did this and uninstalled 7.0.8 as instructed. Now when I tried to reinstall I get the message that the version is on my computer and install will now exit. I can't find 7.0.8 on my computer at all. How do I get out of this loop?
