Version 7.0.8: no printing from icon, but from menu "print" ok

Interestingly I cannot print an open document from the icon "print" - the error message says "document could not be printed" (in german).
But when I go through the menu "print" then the document is printed normally.
What's wrong with the icon?
There is a standard printer defined in my system.
