My wife updated to Reader 7.0.8 and have a similar experience. Not only can I not repair the installation, I cannot uninstall, nor can I delete the folder Reader on the drive where the program is installed. In fact, when I try to open the folder, I am told that the entire drive is not formatted. However, I can open other folders on that drive without incident. I get messsages such as "Internal Error 2330.23 E:\Reader\Browser" "Fatal Error During Installation" "Error 1317. An erro occurred while attempting to create the directory E:\Reader" In fact, the directory already exists and appears to be corrupted in some odd way. I have even gotten and error about cyclic redundancy check. If I ever successfully recover from this, short of formatting the drive, I will post the solution.
