Reader 7.0.8 problems with IE and Firefox

I am running XP Pro, latest updates. Dell Optiplex. Upgraded from Reader 6.0 to 7.0.8. When clicking on a pdf via IE 6.0.2900, get error that aborts. Also tried FIrefox. In same circumstances Reader opens, says Done, but no image. If a pdf is downloaded, then opened, Reader works ok.
