Adobe Reader 8 Won't Download

Adobe 8 won't download pdf doc's in one user profile on multi user profile computer. However, if we switch users to a different profile reader 8 works fine. I cannot uninstall 8 on the bad profile, brings up a user profile error message. Why is this working in one profile, but not the other? How do I get it back?
