If I were to experience your situation I would go and explicitly download Adobe Reader 8.1.3 from <http://get.adobe.com/reader/otherversions/> Make sure that Adobe Reader is closed, then install the new version. Once complete, download and install the security update 8.1.4 from <http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/8.x/8.1.4/misc/AdbeRdrUpd814_all_incr.msp>
