I have just changed printers (from an Oki which was great but getting expensive on consumables after 2 years) to a Lexmark C530DN colour laser, double sided printer. I have also just upgraded to Adobe Acrobat 8 Prof. on WXP prof, SP3. I am finding that if I print multiple copies of any pdf document over a couple of pages long, and collate those copies, that the printer will: A) take about a minute to start; B ) will print 2 pages double sided and then stop for a minute before resuming; C) after about six pages will throw a wobbly and give me the error message insufficient memory to collate (or words to that effect) and stop completely. Additionally, if I try to print a long pdf document, of 169 pages, it will do as A) above and then stop every 4 or 6 pages and take a breather for 30 seconds before resuming! None of these problems occur when I print from either Word or Power Point applications, but ONLY when printing pdf files from Adobe 8. My solution to this problem, after spending almost a day on the telephone to Lexmark and possibly incorrectly blaming them for building shoddy printers, is to install a free and extremely basic pdf viewer (I chose Foxit PDF, but I am sure others would work). Not being sufficiently techie to know why, I find that by using Foxit PDF I am able to print long pdf documents, as well as multiple collated copies of pdf documents. Now, my question is, who is to blame for this situation Lexmark or Adobe? Who is going to put it right and when? Click here for Foxit <http://www.foxitsoftware.com/downloads/index.php>
