I downloaded and installed v8 on Dec. 12, and my experience has been a little different. Reader 8 does open, BUT only when I specifically open it. And I can open PDF files with it (File>Open), IF the files are stored locally or on our network. However, online PDFs open with full Acrobat Professional v7, and I cannot choose for them to open with Reader 8. If I double-click a local PDF to open it, it also opens in Acrobat 7. If I right-click it and choose "Open with" from the context menu, Reader 8 does not appear in the list of programs; and if I use the Browse function to navigate to it, it still does not open. That last symptom is the strangest thing: I can select Reader 8 in the "Browse" dialog window, but it never gets pulled over into the "Open with" dialog window. It's like Windows doesn't recognize it as a program. (I am running WinXP and IE 6.) Hopefully Adobe will take notice of this forum and do something!
