Sandy, when I was posting my previous message, I haven't read your last post yet. Now the picture's getting clearer. My understanding is, the folks in your company who had problems were all local administrators of their PCs, not domain admins, correct? As I see it, the problems occur when upgrade is done by a domain admin while the previous installation was done by a local admin of that PC. It doesn't matter whether the upgrade is done by SMS or manually (I tried it both ways before I found the fix.) Lastly, I want to add that the version 7.0.9 per se is not different from the rest - we have at least one PC which had 7.0.9 before the SMS upgrade to 8.0, and it went OK there.
