Error 1926 on instal with Windows XP

Tried to instal update Reader 8 and it halts half way with two error messages
Error 1926 Could not set file security for file Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Acrobat\Activex. and
Error 1392
I am the system administrator and the file referred to is part of the new installation so what is the problem - any suggestions please?
