Error 1406: while installing Adobe Reader 8
You can see that I had success "touching" the Windows Registry to avoid the two installation errors:
(1) software\classes\.pdf\PersistentHandler
and ...
(2) software\classes\CLSID...\PersistentHandler
and another more that I had:
(3) HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{4C904448-74A9-11d0-AF6E-00C04FD8DC02}\InprocServer32
The last one had a wrong value of "(Predeterminado) C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Reader\AcroRdIF.dll" from my old installated version 7.09 Reader. And to change to "(Predeterminado) C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 8.0\Reader\AcroRdIF.dll" I had to modify the permission in "InprocServer32" key, as well as for the two "PersistentHandler" keys related to installation errors.
Now I have my Spanish version 8.0 of Acrobat Reader installed, and without any problem.
Thanks,
Antonio.
