Adobe Viewer Version: 7.0.5 OS: Win2k Pro Networked PC Error Message (underlines indicate our object name): System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80004005): Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component. at Interop.AcrobatReader7.IAcroAXDocShim.LoadFile(String fileName) at AxInterop.AcrobatReader7.AxAcroPDF.LoadFile(String fileName) at Snsc.Foundation.Documents.UI.AcrobatReaderWrapperControl.set_FileName(String value) at Snsc.Foundation.Documents.UI.AssembledDocumentViewer.set_FileName(String value) at Snsc.Documents._________s.UI.Asset_____DocumentViewerDialog.ShowDialog(IWin32Window parent, String filename, Boolean showButtons) at Snsc.Documents._________s.UI._________.GeneratePreview() at Snsc.Documents._________s.UI._________.uiButtonPreview_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.OnClick(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Button.OnClick(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Button.OnMouseUp(MouseEventArgs mevent) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WmMouseUp(Message& m, MouseButtons button, Int32 clicks) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.ButtonBase.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Button.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.OnMessage(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam) The client application uses a CSLA business object to request a PDF document be generated on the server. That object contains the destination name (mapped drive) where the PDF should be placed. Once the business object gets to the server, the destination is converted to a UNC path to the file server, and the PDF is generated and saved to it. When the CSLA business object returns to the client, the client app uses the original destination (mapped drive) to access the PDF on the file server. When the viewer tries to read this file, the exception is thrown. This exception is periodic. I have tried setting the fileName to null, removing the file entirely before the viewer gets to it, and corrupting the file. All of these result in a blank screen, but no exception. Users have the required permissions to the folder and files. What is causing this exception? Then, how do I get around it? Thanks. Jim
