Failure to convert to PDF

Im currently having a problem with my Acrobat 8.0 free version that I downloaded. When converting a Doc. to PDF form I go to print, and make sure the printer is under ACROBAT PDF Writer. When I click print, i get an error message saying *check the printer by running a printer test page, *make sure the printer is turned on and online* reinstall the printer driver.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled it but no luck. I dont think thats the problem because the printer has never had to be on. Maybe something in my AT&T DSL that i recently installed is blocking it.

All i need to do is convert files to a PDF doc, so if anyone knows how to help, I'd appreciate it
