I'm getting the same problem. New HP system running XP Media. Intel Core Duo. Norton Internet Security. IE6. I've tried uninstalling what tried to be installed. Turning off Norton. Multiple shutdowns and restarts. Nothing works. Same problems. Don't think it's the registry, either (someone else on another post tried that but that wasn't it), but that's the tech article someone will likely point you to. I'm looking for other options also.
