I too have this problem. I too cannot remove 7.0.8 nor can I install version 8. Currently I have had to install a competitor product because I cannot open pdf's. It is also not helpful that one cannot raise this with Adobe. I'm inclined to look for substitutes for their other products too as not being able to raise this issue with technical support is ridiculous when Adobe is such a large organisation. I'm certainly not going down the route of registry hacking when, I suspect, part of the installation of version 8 caused the problem.
