I now have more information.

The Problem
Missing buttons (Save/Complete/Reset) and required fields are not highlighted in Adobe Reader 8.0.

What Ive Found
In every problematic PDF document there is a Javascript function called processInit( ) that makes the normally hidden buttons visible and highlights required fields. This function is executed by the FDF toolkit method FDFSetOnImportJavaScript( ) in the ASP document that launches the PDF. It appears that FDFSetOnImportJavaScript( ) is not calling processInit( ) when the PDF is opened in Reader 8.0.

Confirmation
I modified an existing PDF by adding a new button (always visible) that executes processInit( ) when clicked. When opening the PDF through on the web with Reader 8.0, the Save/Complete/Reset buttons were invisible and the required fields were not highlighted. When I clicked on the new button (that executes processInit( ) ) the Save/Complete/Reset buttons were visible and the required fields were highlighted.

Because FDFSetOnImportJavaScript( ) is part of the FDF Toolkit, I cant rework it or debug it. Does anyone know why this method is not executing Javascript on import with Reader 8.0.

Thank you,
Mike
